us is an arts collective whose key collaborating members are: Aria Evans and Candice Irwin
For us movement is key. us believes that movement can express ideas in a way no other art form can. For this reason both our live performance and video work is routed in movement exploration while supported by a variety of other creative practices and inspirations.
us uses this interdisciplinary and collaborative art making approach to tell personal stories about the world and the people who inhabit it. Weaim to find common ground between people of varying cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic situations and sexual orientations. We use personal stories as a tool for breaking down barriers between people and helping them empathize with each other’s experiences.
To achieve this, our storytelling technique is focused on the relationship between the performers, the audience and the environment they are sharing. us places great importance on how space impacts the development of trust and the interpretation of narrative.
Because of how important diversity is to us we strive to collaborate with artists in as many different fields as possible. Because us’ members bring different strengths to the collective, welcome other individual’s contributions as further support for us’ artistic vision.
